Terms Of Business

These Terms of Business apply to all vehicle repair, servicing, diagnostic, and maintenance work carried out by [Mechanic demo company] (“we”, “us”, “our”). By instructing us to carry out work on your vehicle, you agree to these terms.
1. Estimates & Authorisation

All estimates provided are based on initial inspections and information available at the time.

Estimates are not a fixed price unless explicitly stated in writing.

Additional work may be required once repairs commence. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you for approval before proceeding.

Authorisation may be given verbally, electronically, or in writing and is binding.
2. Customer-Supplied Parts

We do not fit customer-supplied parts under any circumstances.

All parts fitted must be supplied by us to ensure quality, compatibility, safety, and warranty cover.

We accept no responsibility for delays or costs resulting from unavailable or discontinued parts.
3. Additional Parts & Unforeseen Repairs
-
During the removal of old or worn components, it is sometimes necessary to remove or disturb surrounding parts.

In some cases, this process may reveal additional worn, seized, or damaged components that were not visible during the initial inspection.

Where this occurs, additional parts and labour may be required, which may increase the final cost.

We will inform you as soon as reasonably possible if this situation arises.
4. Warranty

All parts supplied and fitted by us are covered by a 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty (whichever comes first), unless otherwise stated.

Warranty covers defects in parts and workmanship only.

Warranty does not cover:

Fair wear and tear
-
Consumables (e.g. bulbs, wiper blades, brake pads where worn normally)
-
Damage caused by misuse, neglect, accidents, or failure to follow manufacturer recommendations

Faults related to parts not supplied or fitted by us

5. Vehicle Condition & Damage Reporting

Vehicles left with us are handled with reasonable care.

Any concerns regarding damage believed to have occurred while the vehicle was in our care must be reported within 24 hours of vehicle collection.

Claims reported after this period may not be accepted.
6. Payment Terms

Payment is due in full upon completion of work and before vehicle release, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

We reserve the right to retain the vehicle until payment has been received in full.
7. Old Parts
-
Removed parts remain our property unless requested at the time of booking.
-
Old parts may be disposed of unless you request to inspect or retain them before work begins.
8. Delays

We are not responsible for delays caused by factors outside our control, including parts availability, supplier delays, weather conditions, or unforeseen mechanical issues.
9. Liability

We will not be liable for:

Pre-existing faults or damage

Indirect or consequential losses
-
Losses arising from vehicle breakdowns unrelated to our work

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
10. Governing Law

These Terms of Business are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Online Bookings & Website Services

Bookings may be made via our website, phone, or other online platforms operated by [Mechanic demo company].

When booking through our website, customers must provide accurate and complete information regarding the vehicle, fault, and location.

We reserve the right to amend or cancel a booking if the information provided is incorrect or misleading.
12. Online Payments

Payments made via our website are processed securely through third-party payment providers.

Payment may be required in full or as a deposit at the time of booking, depending on the service selected.

Any remaining balance must be paid upon completion of work, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

We do not store card details on our systems.
13. Cancellation Policy
Customer Cancellations

Customers may cancel or reschedule a booking by contacting us as soon as possible.

Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment may be eligible for a refund of any deposit paid.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment may result in:

Loss of deposit, and/or
-
A cancellation fee to cover time reserved, travel, or administrative costs.

Our Right to Cancel

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule bookings due to circumstances beyond our control, including staff availability, vehicle access issues, or adverse weather conditions.

Where we cancel a booking, any payments made will be refunded in full or the booking rescheduled at no additional cost.
14. Refund Policy

Refunds are not provided for completed work where services have been carried out correctly and in line with the agreed scope.

Refunds for deposits or prepaid services will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

No refunds will be given where:

Work has already commenced
-
Parts have been ordered specifically for the booking

The customer fails to attend or provide access to the vehicle

Approved refunds will be processed back to the original payment method within a reasonable timeframe.
15. Missed Appointments & Access

Customers must ensure the vehicle is accessible at the agreed time and location.

If we are unable to carry out work due to lack of access, incorrect address details, or vehicle unavailability, a call-out or missed appointment fee may apply.
16. Third-Party & Platform Services (If Applicable)

Where bookings or payments are made via a third-party platform or marketplace, their terms may also apply.

We are not responsible for technical issues or payment failures caused by third-party systems.
17. Amendments to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms of Business at any time.
